Boasting a remarkable collection of paintings by Andrea Mantegna – by far the largest outside of Italy –, supplemented by exceptional loans from French and foreign collections, the Musée du Louvre held France’s first major retrospective on this eminent figure of the Renaissance. Using works of a variety of techniques to retrace the main stages in the artist’s career, the exhibition explores the influences that impacted on this work and the early dissemination of his art.
