The wife and mother of Pharaohs, Queen Ahmose Nefertari had an exceptional posthumous fate. In Upper Egypt, during the Ramesside Period (18th-12th century BC), she was particularly revered by the villagers of Deir el-Medina, who made her their kindly patron saint. This delicately and ardently sculpted and painted statue remains a precious testimony to their devotion.
